Red and Purple

The rain was gone by morning and after seeing how soaked the picnic tables and tents were we were very grateful to have slept in the RV.  Finally we could say goodbye to Ghost Ranch.  The trail wound through box canyon and then we had to climb up and out.  It was up all morning.
Then, uh oh, we're off trail.  After checking maps we realized we were on the purple route rather than the red route.  It would get us there.  The red route is the most popular or common route which sometimes is the official route and sometimes an alternate.  Purple routes are alternate routes which is sometimes the official route.  Then there's the make up your own route.  We did a little route finding cross country today as well.  I'm starting to enjoy that.  The trail climbed to over ten thousand feet and we left the desert behind.  I won't miss it.
