Home Sweet Home
The sun is setting the sky afire to the west over snowy jagged peaks and reflecting pink and purple clouds to the east. Our home for most of the day is a yurt on a hill with views of the surrounding mountain peaks. It's a Colorado trail memorial yurt. This is my first time staying in a yurt and it's pretty cool. It's equipped with two bunk beds, a propane stove, sink, table and wood stove. We left Lake City at 8 this morning. Lucky the hostel owner put all of us and our packs in his truck and hauled us up the mountain. There were hugs and goodbyes at the pass and then we headed south while the rest headed north. We hiked up into lower hills and meadows the 8.5 miles to this wonderful yurt. We aren't in a hurry since my shoes don't arrive in Silverton until Wednesday. This has been a relaxing on trail nero reading a kindle book on my phone and eating munchies planned for today. A little forethought could've prevented being stuck waiting in shoes but it is what it is so best to just be flexible and enjoy the next few slower days. It's great to be back on trail and moving forward.

5-star on trail accommodations! Can't believe it wasn't reserved or filled with day hikers.
